Frequently Asked Questions

What is considered “high season”? Do you have a minimum?

May through October is the busiest time of year for our team. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are consistently booked during the spring, summer and early fall months. For this reason, we book at least five services on weekend wedding dates during the high season. There is no minimum service requirement outside of high season or for events taking place on weekdays May through October. If you’re worried you can’t meet the minimum service requirement during our busy season, remember that mothers, grandmothers, and honored guests outside of the wedding party love to get glam too.

Do I have to make a deposit in order to save my wedding date on your calendar?

All bookings require a 20% non-refundable retainer fee at the time of booking. This fee will ensure your wedding date is confirmed in our calendar. In case you need to reschedule, this retainer fee is transferable to another date of your choosing, pending availability. If you’re forced to cancel your booking with us, we’ll be sad to see you go, but your retainer fee can’t be refunded. 30 days prior to your wedding date, the remaining balance for your wedding day services will be due.

How can I pay my balance?

All invoices will be delivered and completed through our online booking system and client portal.

I have a big bridal party. Will I need more than one hair and makeup artist?

We’ll always recommend a second artist for a bridal party of seven or more. Maintaining your wedding day timeline is crucial to our role as your bridal beauty team. With additional artists, we can complete services for all in a timely manner so you can stay on track with the day’s events. Additional hair and makeup artists are available for 125.00 each.

Is travel included in your rates?

We charge a separate travel fee based on mileage from our studio headquarters in Tacoma, Washington. Mileage will be calculated at $1.50 per mile for round trip travel. For locations over two hours away from our Tacoma headquarters, we require overnight accommodations so wedding day scheduling is simple and stress-free for all. The final balance for your wedding day services will include travel fees.

What should I know about my hair and makeup trial?

Trials are scheduled on Wednesdays at one of our studios in Tacoma or Kirkland. Prior to your appointment, we’d love to see any mood boards for your wedding design, an image of your dress, and any bridal beauty inspiration you’ve been saving on Pinterest. This will help us get an idea of your vision, the aesthetic you’re building, and your preferences for hair and makeup.

Is there anything I should do to prepare for my trial?

Skincare is everything, but you already knew that! We recommend Hydrafacials and dermaplaning before previews, as your skin should be almost wedding day ready to ensure you get a true representation of what you will look like for your big day. Come see us at our boutique spa, I.M. Artistry Skin in Tacoma, Washington, for these treatments before your trial and wedding day!

We also recommend incorporating a light exfoliant into your skincare regimen in the weeks leading up to your trial. This will buff away any dead skin that’s standing between you and your bridal glow – we like the Sexapeel Instant Exfoliation Spray by Sonia Roselli. After exfoliating, be sure to moisturize each morning and before you go to sleep at night. The result is hydrated and supple skin with a restored barrier for flawless foundation application. We love Sonia Roselli Water Balm for mornings and Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream for evenings. Oh, and drink lots of water! Hydrated skin is happy skin, and happy skin loves makeup!

What should I do to prepare for your arrival on my wedding day?

You can’t go wrong with a glass of champagne to kick off the day. Other than that, here’s what you should know: we love to glam by natural light, so our preferred setup location would be near a large window if you have one to spare. If not, no worries. We always bring our professional lighting just in case. We’ll also come prepared with our comfy folding chairs for hair styling and makeup application.

Prior to the big day, we’ll coordinate with you and your vendor team to ensure we glam your bridal party on time for a smooth transition into the day’s festivities. Around here, we believe that if you’re not early, you’re late! As a result, we often run ahead of schedule. We ask that the bridal party be ready to glam at the designated time – a few minutes early is even better!

Make sure your bridal party arrives barefaced and cleansed. In order to curate the right products for their complexion, we'd like your bridal party to know whether they have oily, dry, or combination skin. After all is said and done, here’s the best thing you can do to prepare for your wedding day glam: sit back, relax, and soak up every delicious moment. Let us pamper you, celebrate with you, and help you feel your best.
