BASICS OF YOUR WEDDING DAY
What do you need to think of on your wedding day?
Many brides are excited to book their hair and makeup, but sometimes fail to think about the logistics of the day. Unless you’re an awesome wedding planner (or you hire one for your big day) details such as last minute coordinating, food, and timeline become forgotten.
Here are some general guidelines you should stick to for an amazing day!
1) MAKE A TIMELINE
Create a timeline either by yourself or a professional you have hired (like the makeup artist, photographer, caterer, or DJ.) Since they have done numerous weddings, they have a general feel for how long specific activities should take and how to keep the day moving along. Ensure you have a window of at least 1 hour between being dressed and ready to the beginning of taking pictures. This hour is a life saver to relax before the big event.
2) BRING SNACKS!
Most brides do not realize that the total time it takes to get ready can run up to 5 hours (particularly if you have a large party.) Make sure your bridesmaids and glam team have something to munch on to keep the energy up.
3) SKIN CARE
If you hired a professional makeup artist, they will definitely ask about your skin care. Get advice roughly 4-6 months out so you can start preparing a regimen to get you ready for your big day (and maybe afterwards.) This will ensure your skin will be picture perfect. It’s always about the makeup application. Makeup will always look better (and flawless) when the skin has been properly prepped. Happy skin, loves makeup!
4) LIGHTING
Now, this technically isn’t your job to worry about. But, you should ask your venue about where your bridal suite will be. Having natural light will be the most helpful. If not, it’s not the end of the world. Your makeup artist should bring proper lighting equipment. Natural light helps the artist see every detail and helps the application look picture perfect.
5) LASTLY…
You should have someone assigned to make your last minute decisions. This should be your day. You do not need to be bothered with last minute questions. Have someone, potentially outside of your bridal team, or even a day-of coordinator comes in handy!
6) LASTLY (FOR REAL THIS TIME!)
Enjoy your day! The day will be what it is. No need to stress! Remember, you’re marrying the love of your life!
